Known for its large, showy blossoms, hibiscus is popular worldwide as an ornamental garden plant as well having symbolic significance in many cultures. The dried flower petals when used as a tisane are reputed to offer antihypertensive effects and a high content of vitamin C. It yields a bright pinkish-red cup color and a tangy-sweet taste to any blend. It is equally delicious hot or iced.

“ I was a bit disappointed with this tisane. I love Hibiscus; it's naturally sour/sweet and tangy. No sugar, maple syrup, or honey is needed. The beautiful, deep, crimson-red cup is enticing and brings people in. The issue I have with this Hibiscus is that when I steep it I get an overpowering sour flavor. Regardless, I was able to get 15+ cups out of 1 teaspoon of this tisane, which makes it a cheaper way to enjoy herbal teas/tisanes. I infused this tisane at 212 degrees for 1 minute for the first infusion, 2 minutes for the second infusion, and 3 minutes for the third to fifteenth infusion. ”

“ I read about the health benefits of hibiscus tea esp it's high vitamin C, so bought a bag to experiment with adding it to my tea. I have a tendency to be vitamin deficient due to a health condition...so I'm experimenting with herbs as my body doesn't work well with supplements in pill form. I brewed the hibiscus with a cuppa of English breakfast tea. Turns a lovely magenta color and the aroma is fruity. Very nice tart taste -- I can see why hibiscus is added to many fruit teas to boost the flavor. I like the taste -- reminds me of a mix of strawberry, cherry and maybe pomegranate? Lovely tea, and I'm hoping it will help give me a bit of a nutrient/vitamin boost as well. The herb itself is obviously high quality. Excellent price. The 3oz size comes in the same re-sealable bag that Adagio tea comes in. Brews easily and quickly. Will definitely be buying this again. ”

“ I love tart flavors and hibiscus really adds a zing to the fruit tisanes I cold brew for iced tea. I also enjoy it added to black tea for extra flavor and kick. ”

“ I have always enjoyed Hibiscus tea blends for the taste and the health benefits. I am happy that Hibiscus Flower is offered with Adagio. Selefina sets the standard for freshness! I add the Hibiscus flowers into other tea infusions and it turns my drinks a pretty pink color and adds the tartness I enjoy! Tastes great in hot and chilled teas. ”
